Frequently asked questions
What is free, and what does the full version include?
The pet passport, the rabies reminder and, in an emergency, the search for an emergency vet remain free.
The full version unlocks:
- trip planner with exact deadlines
- border view
- dog on a plane
- first aid
- emergency card
- pet sitter sheet
- backup and sharing
- widgets
It is available as an Annual Pass (€5.99 per year in the eurozone, first 14 days free) or as a Lifetime purchase (€14.99 one-time). Both work with Family Sharing. Outside the eurozone, the App Store shows the price in your local currency.
How do I cancel the Annual Pass?
In your iPhone settings: your name (Apple Account) › Subscriptions › Pawyage › Cancel Subscription. Cancel at least 24 hours before it ends, otherwise the Annual Pass renews for another year. Deleting the app does not cancel the subscription.
I have a new iPhone or reinstalled the app. How do I get my purchase back?
Sign in with the same Apple ID. The app usually recognises your purchase automatically. If it does not, tap a full-version feature, for example More › Border view, and then Restore purchases.
Can I get a refund?
All payments are handled by Apple, so refunds are requested directly from Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com. We cannot issue refunds ourselves.
How do I move my data to a new iPhone?
Your data is stored only on your iPhone; there is no account and no server. If you set up your new iPhone from an iCloud or computer backup, your data comes with it.
Alternatively, create an encrypted backup file under More › Backup and sharing and open it on the new iPhone. Keep the password safe: without it, the backup cannot be opened, and we cannot recover it either.
How do I share a pet with my family?
Under More › Backup and sharing › Share pet, the app creates an encrypted file that you send via AirDrop, Messages or Mail. Pass on the code to open it separately, ideally in person or by phone.
I don't receive reminders.
Allow notifications in your iPhone settings under Notifications › Pawyage. Also check whether a Focus mode is holding back notifications.
The scanner does not recognise an entry in the pet passport.
Lay the page flat and make sure the lighting is good. If it still doesn't work, enter the values by hand. Compare every value you adopt with the pet passport.
The vet search finds nothing.
Allow location access "While Using the App" or type in a place. The search uses Apple Maps. In an emergency, always call the practice before you go.
How up to date are the entry rules?
The rule set is built into the app. You can see its version and date under More › Rule set and sources. New rules arrive with app updates, so please turn on automatic updates. The competent authorities always have the final say: check the linked official sources before every trip.
Does the app replace the EU pet passport or the vet?
No. The app helps you plan and reminds you in time. The entries in the EU pet passport, the competent authorities and your vet are what count. First aid only bridges the time until you reach the practice.
How do I set up the widget?
Touch and hold an empty area of the Home Screen, then tap Edit › Add Widget › Pawyage. The widget is part of the full version.
I found an error in the rules.
Thank you! Please tell us which country and which rule are affected and, if possible, the source. We will check it promptly.
